Davy Samford
An angelic performer with an awkward grace, Davy was born in Toowoomba and raised in a “quite normal and sporty family, as a weak and uncoordinated child”. He began juggling in high school, and studied art history at university before going to the circus school Circoarts in Christchurch in 1997. Davy’s performance persuasions centre on a great love for vaudeville, and especially the old ‘gentleman juggler’ style. [Picture guys in tuxedos juggling gentlemanly props such as wine bottles or golf clubs. He’s been noted to do the odd plate-spinning routine, and is also a fine exponent of the art of equilibristics [balancing things on one’s face]. Davy has a penchant for balancing dangerous objects on his nose. Less perilous yet more skillful, he can balance a teaspoon on his nose and catch it behind his ear.
